Brent Lodge Park
The 'Bunny Park': Hanwell Zoo, a yew maze and riverside meadows.
Brent Lodge Park and Churchfields are at the end of Church Road, north of the Uxbridge Road, with the River Brent on the west and south. Ealing Council describes them as bringing "a touch of the countryside to Ealing". (Ealing Council)
What's there
- Hanwell Zoo (formerly the Brent Lodge Park Animal Centre), with small mammals, exotic birds and reptiles; there have been animals here since 1975 (Ealing Council)
- A millennium maze made of 2,000 yews (Ealing Council)
- A café, public toilets, playgrounds, tennis courts and a multi-use games area (Ealing Council)
- Hay meadows and old trees along the river
- A Grade II listed stable block, the last remnant of a manor house that burned down in the 1930s (Ealing Council)
Visiting the zoo
Opening hours, prices and booking are on the Hanwell Zoo website. The zoo has its own hours, separate from the park.
Getting there
On foot from Church Road, or by the footpath from Ealing Hospital under the Wharncliffe Viaduct. Hanwell station is nearby, and the E1 and E3 buses run on Greenford Avenue. Parking at the end of Church Road is limited. (Ealing Council)
The Brent River and Canal Society, formed in 1973, still holds work days and walks: see their website.
